Portrait #4 WIP

This is quite the biggest canvas I've painted on so far: 24 inches x 18 inches (610 x 457 mm).

I saw this photograph and just had to have a go at it.

I have painted all weekend, a luxury I've spent all year working towards. I hope to finish tomorrow.

  1. Looking good. Striking colors. You do the Geisha well--you did a couple in acrylic didn't you?

    1. Thanks, Linda. The ones I did in the past were more 'cartoon' than portrait , but they all offer unusual poses and wonderful colours

  3. John that look looks amazing already. A very intriguing pose and the creamy tones of her skin look luminous already at this stage.

  4. This time last year we had a live session with a Geisha in the Theatre John, it was a prelude to the film “The Artist and the Model”. Walking through Cardigan and Fishguard with a Geisha in full regalia was an interesting experience :).

  6. Love your subject matter and how you have placed her on the canvas. I like to use a sienna toned canvas although a bit lighter than yours. Lovely work, John.

    1. The photograph posed her for me. The toning of the canvas is still a problem for me. I love the Autumnal hues.
