"A Portrait is a Painting With Something Wrong with its Mouth" (John Singer Sargent).
Logan had 'pulled-a-mouth', as only little boys can, and I struggled with it! He'd sucked in his lower lip and rounded the front of his chin.

This is fantastic, and I'm glad you painted him as he was making a face, it gives so much character. Really well done, hats off to you! Valerie
ReplyDeleteThank you, Valerie, very kind of you.
DeleteYou did wonders with that mouth - captured the expression so well! Excellent composition... and the colors - just gorgeous, John!
ReplyDeleteYou're too kind, Minnemie - so glad you approve.
DeleteA difficult expression handled very well. The challenge is often what is behind our drive. Good job.
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda, I was fairly pleased.
DeleteGreat portrait!
ReplyDeleteGood job, John - I am impressed that you are trying to capture those candid moments when people (children) are just being themselves. I think you did a fine job in showing his childish and impish nature and I love the skin tones.
ReplyDeleteJohn, this is fantastic!!! It is not easy to create the look of young children - you have done so, and superbly. Congradulations on a beautiful work!
