A beautiful painting , radiating joy, how could it be a young woman with her precious traditional dress ... I like motion of the flowers on the dress and the color that you put to the background, gives balance to the composition. You're doing great, even considering how fast drying acrylic.
I wish Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family.
Exquisite kimono, John, and so beautifully done! I wish you and your family a warm and wonderful Christmas. And you ... all the best for the New Year, and a lot more wonderful portraits!!! Kathryn
She is gorgeous, John. Elegant with lovely detail. You should follow in Sargent's footsteps. You certainly have the eye! Merry, merry! Have lots of fun. I bet your wit shines extra bright at this time of year.
Very pretty :)
ReplyDeleteGlad you like it, Catharina
DeleteNot too bad for a beginner! It should do very well as a print; the painting is elegant as is all your work.
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda. Eventually I will paint Artistically and not just pretty pictures. In the meanwhile I continue to learn the basics.
DeleteI love the fractured technique of Julie Ford Oliver ... one day i shall try it!!
Be you. Try techniques, but make them your own. Do you ever just throw paint on the canvas and see where that leads? Try it. You'll love it.
DeleteBeing me is being controlled ... when I'm in control of the basics, I'll move on ... meanwhile the apprenticeship continues.
